GRADE 3

Welcome to another exciting school year! This year will be full of new learning experiences and discoveries. I would like to welcome Asher Baig and Fatema Al-Shawaf to our class and we wish them all the best for a successful year with us.

In Literacy, we are learning about ‘Narratives’. We are exploring Dreamtime stories and the students planned and published their stories about ‘The Rainbow Serpent’.

In Numeracy, we have started off with Number & Algebra. We are learning numbers to 5000 and different skills like skip counting, place value, addition and subtraction.

In Integrated Studies, we are covering History. We are learning about the First Australians, NAIDOC week and important days in the history of Australia like Australia Day, Anzac Day and Harmony Day to name a few. We had an incursion: ‘Rain forestation Virtual Reality’, in which the students got a chance to peek into the culture and lifestyle of the Aboriginals. It was fantastic and the students loved it.

I believe that open lines of communication between parents and teachers are crucial to educational development of the students. We are looking forward to working with you. Together we can make a difference! Please make sure that your child is always dressed in proper school uniform. The students will be getting their homework booklets every Monday and the homework is due every Friday. Please make sure your child reads to you every night and completes his/her online homework on Mathletics and Reading Eggs. Talk about the book they read and ask questions to make sure they understand what they are reading. If you have any concerns or questions do not hesitate to ask me.
